Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Babies are sometimes born with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and might need some additional help.

Their needs can be obvious or may take years before you notice the signs. Fortunately, Oldham has a fantastic offer of support for children and young people Who have or may have SEND, as well as their parents and carers.

Oldham’s SEND offer is known as the “Local Offer”.

All local authorities must have a “Local Offer”. This is an online resource which sets out what should be available within the local authority.

It’s been produced by children, young people, parents, carers, and practitioners working together and includes activities, short breaks, education, transport, housing and finance to name a few areas.
