With more than half of the world’s population speaking more than one language, the ability to “speak or use, several different languages” is now the ‘normal’ language learning pattern for most people.
Being multilingual comes with so many advantages and it is important the languages important to you and your child are given the opportunity to flourish.
To support this it is important you speak any home languages regularly with your child and provide plenty of opportunities for them to hear it.
Learning one language underpins skills to learn a second language. No evidence exists that knowing more than one language can cause any future language difficulties.
