Age 2–3

Visit your local park or woods and take a bag or bucket with you to collect things in.

Talk about the colours, shapes, smells, how they look, what they feel like and any sounds they make.

Age 3–4

Make some binoculars

Use your binoculars and go on a bear hunt with Mr Tumble.

Age 4–5

Play a positional game to help your child understand where things are.

Give your child instructions to carry out with a teddy bear or another favourite toy such as “Make teddy jump over the box” or “Can teddy hide under the chair?”.

Once you’ve modelled the game, ask your child to give you instructions. Make mistakes and see if they can correct you.
