Chloe and Avery’s story

“If it wasn’t for coming here, I wouldn’t be breastfeeding,” praised mum Chloe Hadfield about our Baby Bistro at Stanley Road Family Hub. Chloe was supported by Home-Start, who run the Bistros with Oldham health visitors after discovering her daughter Avery had a minor tongue tie.

Six-month-old Avery has ‘grown up’ at the Bistro since she was eight weeks old.

“I came here and went through latching and it was all uphill,” said Chloe.

“And they don’t just support breastfeeding. It’s socialising with the baby and getting advice on weaning from other mums. It’s so much more than if baby is feeding on the boob.”

Chloe says her daughter is much more socially confident thanks to the Bistro.

“My son was a lockdown baby, and he didn’t interact until he was two and I only breastfed him until he was four months old. After my first session here, I got tips and instantly the pain was gone.

“I made friends and we meet up outside of the group.”
